狮子和牧羊人(Lions and shepherds)
一头狮子走过树林时,踩着了一根刺。他连忙跑到牧羊人面前,摇着尾巴向他亲一热,好像在说请帮帮我。牧羊人壮着胆,仔细检查一番,发现了那根刺。接着,他将狮子的爪子放在膝上,将刺拔了出来,解除了狮子的痛苦。狮子返回树林中。不久牧羊人被他人诬告,关进了牢房,被判决喂狮子吃。狮子认出牧羊人是帮助他的人,不但没扑过去,反而慢慢地走近他,把爪子放在牧羊人的膝上。国王听说这事情后,下令赦免了牧羊人。
寓意:行善者必有善报。
A lion stepped on a thorn as he walked through the woods. He hurried to the shepherd and kissed him with his tail, as if to say please help me. The shepherd bravely examined it carefully and found the thorn. Then he put the lion's paw on his knee and pulled out the thorn to relieve the lion's pain. The lion returned to the woods. Soon the shepherd was falsely accused by others and put in a cell. He was sentenced to feed the lion. The lion recognized that the shepherd was the one who helped him. Instead of rushing over, he slowly approached him and put his paw on the shepherd's knee. When the king heard about it, he ordered the shepherd to be pardoned.
Moral: those who do good will be rewarded.
红雀和蝙蝠(Cardinals and bats)
一间房子敞开的窗户上挂着一只鸟笼,里面有一只红雀在晚上扯着嗓子歌唱。远处的蝙蝠听到歌声就飞了过来,问红雀,你怎么白天一声不吭,到了晚上反倒唱得这么欢?红雀就说,我这么做也是没有办法啊,当初就是因为在白天唱歌,才被人给逮起来的,现在我可学乖了,只是在晚上才施展一下自己唱歌的本事。寓意:早知如此,何必当初?
A cage hung on the open window of a house, in which a cardinal sang at night. When the bat in the distance heard the song, he flew over and asked the cardinal, why do you keep silent during the day and sing so happily at night? The cardinal said, there's no way for me to do this. I was caught singing during the day. Now I can learn well. I just show my ability to sing at night.
Moral: if you had known this, why did you have to start?
黄鼠狼与锉刀(Weasel and file)
黄鼠狼钻进一家铁匠的作坊,看见一把锋利的锉刀放在那里,他就去舔它。结果舌头被刮破,鲜血直流。但他还以为舔下了一些铁,非常兴奋,终于把舌头全舔掉了。
寓意:那些好斗的人最终害了自己。
When the weasel got into a blacksmith's workshop and saw a sharp file there, he licked it. As a result, the tongue was scratched and blood flowed. But he thought he had licked some iron. He was so excited that he finally licked off his tongue.
Moral: those aggressive people finally hurt themselves.
老人与死神(Old man and death)
有一天,有个老人砍了不少柴,十分吃力地挑着走了很远的路。一路上他累极了,实在挑不动了,便将担子放下,叫喊起死神来。死神来后,问他为什么叫喊他,老人说:“尽管我已精疲力竭了,但还是请你把那担子放在我肩上。”
寓意:即使生活不幸,人们仍爱惜生命。
One day, an old man cut a lot of firewood and walked a long way with great difficulty. He was very tired along the way, so he put down his burden and shouted death. When death came, he asked him why he called him. The old man said, "although I am exhausted, please put the burden on my shoulder"
Moral: even if life is unfortunate, people still cherish life.
农夫与鹰(Farmer and Eagle)
农夫发现一只鹰被捕兽夹夹住了,他见鹰十分美丽,惊讶不已,于是便把鹰放了,鹰表示永不忘他的恩德。有一天,鹰看见农夫坐在将要倒塌的墙下,就立刻朝下飞去,用脚爪抓起他头上的头巾。农夫站起来去追,鹰立即把头巾丢还给他。农夫拾起头巾后,回过头来一看,却发现在他刚坐过的地方,墙已倒塌了。他对鹰的报恩十分感动。
寓意:人们一定要知恩图报,做了好事也一定会得到好报。
The farmer found an eagle caught in a trap. He was surprised to see that the eagle was very beautiful, so he let it go. The eagle said he would never forget his kindness. One day, when the eagle saw the farmer sitting under the wall that was about to collapse, it immediately flew down and grabbed the scarf on his head with its claws. The farmer stood up and went after him. The eagle immediately threw back his scarf. When the farmer picked up his scarf, he looked back and found that the wall had collapsed where he had just sat. He was very moved by the eagle's gratitude.
Moral: people must know their kindness and repay them. If they do good deeds, they will be rewarded.
